CHAPTER I. 16 Statement of Beliefs on the Philippine Economy
What you believe in influences your judgment and conclusions.
Just like many executives, I spent years trying to do something for my company – make it bigger, increase sales, avoid losses, not lose out to competition, etc.
I slaved over every quarter to make sure that it would be better than the previous one – much like every country today where they want to report lower unemployment, higher GDP, better tax collection and the like.
Then I saw a quotation that changed these perspectives.
The job of the CEO is not to grow the company. The job of the CEO is to make the company healthy. When it is healthy , it will grow.
This changed my outlook and have become the founding principle on which I manage my companies. In short, just like your body, the way to health is not to eat a lot of vitamins or exotic herbs. It is just you don’t do whatever will make you unhealthy.
On this note, I present to you first what my basic beliefs, and conclusions before I lay out my facts.

I read the main article (chapter 1) of your context on how to re-strengthen the country’s economic condition. It is very noteworthy to say that someone is willingly dedicating much time, effort, skills and resources to come up with this positive action of increasing Filipino awareness on the sociological responsibilities as citizens of the Philippines. I personally like the ideologies reconstructed in a simpler way of statements, where reader could easily grasp the point of views. Simply, the better.
and KUDOS!!!
if i may suggest, i hope to see more detailed statistics and comparative figures on the actual economic activity of Philippines (selected based on the degree of relevance to the subject presented in the context).
And it may also help if there will be factual situation of activities taken as actions to resolve or maintain a economical equilibrium..(some actions implemented maybe by different sectors of government in the past), as gauging factors on the current issue and on what would be the possible resolution for the incoming or present government.
I will definitely have a close follow up on your upcoming articles….

As an emerging global leader in the BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) industry, huge employment opportunities are given to every Filipino household. No wonder that even the second-year students and can be trained to Call Center Training.

Yes thanks Donn. But we should not stop there…. Call center is the first step, and it is a good industry, but there are so many other great services we can be good at. Just like if Japan is good at photographic equipment, they can also be good in computer games, photocopying, audio devices, video cameras, gadgets and th elike. there are so many related industries that we can also excel.

There is scholarly work written by Robert Nelson, a visiting Professor at UP School of Economics. The paper is titled, The Philippine Economic Mystery- somehow resembles your introduction with stats and figures. There is shoter version of the paper published at the Philippine Economic Review Journal.

cheers…
simple yet a strategy towards the right and correct direction. Government at this point has been the obstruction rather than the direction. Its not just the national government but the ecompassing collective local governments that act with impunity and no unified direction that has metastesized to what we call corruption on all levels we are feeling today. Democracy as we know it has worked against improvement with the majority leading the way rather than the educated. Only the learned have this competence however i do understand it requires benevolence. This is the health you speak off that we require for a ceo to lead, generate aspirational values to lead with example and a hope we all require towards a success we all long for.
